The True Gospel: The Bible Way to Heaven

Have you ever wondered, “What must I do to be saved?” This is the most important question a person can ask. And thankfully, the Bible gives us a clear answer. According to God’s Word, salvation is not found in religion, rituals, or good works. It is a gift from God, offered freely to all who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Let’s walk through what the Bible says about how to be saved.

1. Admit That You Are a Sinner

The first step is recognizing our true condition before God. The Bible says:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

None of us are righteous or good enough to earn heaven on our own (Romans 3:10, 12). Even our best efforts fall short. Trying to keep the law or do good deeds cannot save us (Romans 3:20). The law only shows us how sinful we are.

2. Realize That Sin Deserves Hell

Sin has serious consequences. The Bible teaches that the wages of sin is death—not just physical death, but eternal punishment.

“For the wages of sin is death...” – Romans 6:23

“But the fearful, and unbelieving... and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone...” – Revelation 21:8

Even one sin makes us guilty before God (James 2:10). Without a Savior, every person is on the road to hell.

3. Believe That Jesus Died and Rose Again for You

Here is the good news: God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay for our sins. Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

“Christ died for our sins... and... rose again the third day.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3–4

“The Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.” – 1 John 4:14

Jesus was no ordinary man. He is the Son of God and fully God Himself (John 1:1; Colossians 2:9). Only He could bear the full penalty for our sin.

4. Trust in Jesus Alone for Salvation

Salvation is by faith alone, not by works, church attendance, baptism, or turning over a new leaf. The Bible is crystal clear:

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” – Acts 16:31

“For by grace are ye saved through faith... not of works...” – Ephesians 2:8–9

If you try to be saved by your own goodness, you are not trusting in Jesus. Only faith in Christ, His death and resurrection can save your soul.

“To him that worketh not, but believeth... his faith is counted for righteousness.” – Romans 4:5

5. Understand That Salvation Is Eternal and Secure

When you believe on Jesus, you are saved forever. You become a child of God, and nothing can take that away.

“I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish...” – John 10:28

“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised...” – Titus 1:2

God’s grace covers all your sins—past, present, and future (Colossians 2:13). If a saved person sins, God disciplines them as a Father (Hebrews 12:6), but they do not lose their salvation.

“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved.” – 1 Corinthians 3:15

6. Call on the Lord to Save You

Salvation is not a process, it’s a moment of believing and receiving. You only need to be saved once.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13

You can call on the Lord in prayer right now. Here’s an example of what you can say:

“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I deserve to go to hell. But I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I trust You alone to save me. I am not trusting in myself or my works, but only in You. Please give me the gift of eternal life. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”

If you put your faith in Jesus and God promises you are saved!
