About Elton Menno Roth
Elton Menno Roth was born in 1891 and pursued a life dedicated to Christian music and education. He attended the Fort Wayne Bible School in Indiana and the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Roth served as a music teacher at various institutions, including the Alliance Bible schools in St. Paul, Minnesota, and New York City, the Bible Institute in Los Angeles, the Baptist Theological College, and City College of Los Angeles.
He also worked with traveling evangelist tours and directed the Ecclesia Choir, which toured across the United States in 1931. Roth wrote over 100 hymns and several anthems, many of which continue to be sung in Christian congregations today. His work often focuses on personal devotion, the joy of following Christ, and the hope of heaven, making his hymns particularly suitable for both youth and adult worship settings.
Roth’s hymns have been translated into multiple languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese, reflecting his international influence in Christian music. His contributions to hymnody remain valued for their heartfelt devotion and melodic accessibility.
