George Evans

George K. Evans (b. 1917) was an American educator, musicologist, and church musician who dedicated his career to the intersection of choral music and pedagogy. Born in 1917, he pursued an extensive academic path, earning a B.A. from Rice University, followed by an M.A. at the University of Texas, and culminating in a Ph.D. from the George Peabody College for Teachers.

His professional life was characterized by a dual commitment to public education and sacred music. He served as a music supervisor and choral director at both the high school and collegiate levels, shaping the musical development of young performers.
