Where He Leads Me (I can hear my Savior calling)
Lyrics
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
"Take thy cross and follow, follow Me."
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.
I'll go with Him through the garden,
I'll go with Him through the garden,
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.
I'll go with Him through the judgment,
I'll go with Him through the judgment,
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.
He will give me grace and glory,
He will give me grace and glory,
And go with me, with me all the way.

About This Hymn
"Where He Leads Me" was written in 1890 by Ernest W. Blandy, a Salvation Army officer who penned the words during a time of deep personal surrender to God's call. Although not much is known about Blandy's broader life, it is said that he wrote the hymn as he wrestled with a decision to follow Christ into difficult ministry work. The opening line, “I can hear my Savior calling,” captures the quiet, compelling voice of Jesus calling His followers into deeper discipleship. The hymn was inspired by passages like Luke 9:23, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” The music was composed by John S. Norris, whose solemn, steady melody perfectly matches the hymn's tone of reverent commitment. With its repeated chorus, “I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way,” the hymn has resonated with countless believers who have found in its words a heartfelt expression of devotion, obedience, and trust in the Savior’s leading—wherever that may be.
