"A helm upon my brow I wear" is a late nineteenth-century Christian poem written by the English Anglican priest and hymnwriter Samuel John Stone, who is famously known for authoring the classic hymn "The Church's One Foundation." Structured around the biblical theme of the Christian armor, this reflective lyric was first published in his 1872 volume of poetry, The Knight of Intercession, and Other Poems. In that collection, the piece appeared in four stanzas of four lines.

Stone's verse eventually found its way into spiritual manuals designed for devotional use. In 1884, it was selected by P. J. Richardson for inclusion on page 64 of Lent Manual for Busy People, and Some Others. That same year, Stone also chose to republish the piece in his own collection, Carmina Consecrata, ensuring its continued place among his collected spiritual works.
